Ava Cohen

Ava Cohen (she/her) is a recent graduate of the University of Iowa with a B.A. in Environmental Policy and Planning, a minor in Social Justice, and certifications in Sustainability, Digital Marketing, and Social Media Marketing. Throughout her academic career, Ava has developed a passion for the intersection between environmental advocacy, social justice, strategic communication, and public policy.
Ava is especially interested in resource conservation, food security, sustainable agriculture, and equitable access to natural resources. She has completed internships with organizations such as 350 Wisconsin, where she worked on energy equity initiatives, as well as the Environmental Voter Project, where she mobilized low propensity environmental voters across the United States by phone banking. Most recently, Ava has been acting as Social Media Manager for her local Citizens Climate Lobby Chapter. She is very excited to utilize her graphic design, strategic writing, content creation, social media management, and storytelling skills to support Isla Urbana and their mission to provide equitable and sustainable water access to Mexican communities through rainwater harvesting technologies.
