Development & Fundraising Fellow

About the Organization:

Our Climate mobilizes and empowers young people to educate their communities and decision-makers about science-based, equitable, and intersectional climate justice solutions. Through our youth leadership development programs, we engage and empower young people, ages 14-24 from diverse communities, to advocate for climate justice solutions via our climate justice curriculum, individual and team mentorship and support, and opportunities to contribute and lead local, state and national climate justice campaigns and coalitions. We also offer Resilience as Resistance, a program that addresses young leaders’ wellness and mental health needs and opportunities for young people to share their climate justice stories via creative art mediums.

Fellowship Description:

The Development and Fundraising Intern will assist the Partnership Lead in a variety of projects to support Our Climate’s fundraising initiatives and strategic programs.

- Research grant opportunities and assist in building foundation relationships
- Research and identify potential foundations and grant opportunities using Guidestar and Instrumentl software and online search
- Ensure GuideStar and Charity Navigator profiles are updated on a quarterly basis
- Support Partnership Lead in preparing for funders briefings and other fundraising events
- Edit and proofread grant reports
- Draft LOI (Letter of Inquiry’s) and other donor outreach materials
- Support grassroots fundraising campaigns
- Build relationships with grassroots donors, such as writing thank you cards, assembling donor packets, and following up with major donors
- Coordinate with the Communications Lead and Social Media interns to brainstorm and launch grassroots fundraising campaigns
- Support Partnership Lead and Communications Lead in analyzing ActBlue campaign data
- Support fundraising team to plan and implement our mid-level donor program

Experience supporting or leading grassroots fundraising campaigns
Excellent written communication skills;
A results-driven, self-motivated candidate who can take initiative and work independently
Knowledge of climate and social justice

Time Commitment:  10-15 hours / week
