About the organization:
Vesta is a marine CDR company with a mission to make a difference in the planet's climate goals. Vesta deploys carbon-removing sand made from the mineral olivine in coastal areas. This helps protect coastlines from erosion, removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and reduces harmful ocean acidity.
Vesta's process, Coastal Carbon Capture, has the potential to deliver durable gigatonne-scale carbon removal more cost-effectively and with higher energy efficiency than any other method.
Position Description:
This internship will provide an opportunity for the applicant to learn about and participate in the marine Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) industry along with a team of scientists and business experts. The applicant will assist in developing and refining a plan for Monitoring, Verification, and Reporting of carbon removal credits with a commercial CDR company. This may include supporting the writing and editing of documents detailing MRV approaches.
Desired Qualifications:
This position requires a background/coursework in physical science, business, or economics, with a demonstrated understanding of chemistry. The applicant should possess strong professional writing and communication skills, and a passion for climate mitigation technologies and solutions. Demonstrated experience or knowledge of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies, carbon credits, monitoring, verification, and reporting (MRV), or life cycle analysis (LCA) is desirable but not required.
