Damiana is an expert in climate negotiations, ESG planning and implementation, PPPs, renewable fuel & energy, energy efficiency, and optimization of natural resources to accelerate rural and urban sustainable growth. She is a skillful communicator efficiently bridging corporate and public sectors in developed and developing countries
Damiana worked with the US EPA Smartway Program and as Transport Manager in the Climate & Energy team at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, helping global companies develop business solutions to reduce emissions from transport and logistics activities, and embed sustainability into core business strategies. For the past years, Ms. Serafini lead the work on a pioneering privet-public global collaborative program called Transforming Heavy Transport, aimed at finding solutions to accelerate the adoption of energy efficient measures to lower emission from freight operations.
Damiana’s past work includes more than 18 years of experience in sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), including feedstock production and selection, processing technology, supply chain, quality and sustainability certification, policy, and carbon trading schemes. She has collaborated with IATA and ICAO on research studies looking for solutions to barriers to enable the deployment of SAF at commercial scale worldwide.
Damiana acquired in-depth public-sector experience as Director of Environment & Energy Efficiency for Vicente López County Office in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she developed and deployed public programs in waste management, water conservation, energy efficient buildings, urban agriculture and transport and residential energy efficiency. Damiana also helped develop the biogas industry in Argentina, conducting R&D studies on the potential for power generation via anaerobic digestion processes using animal and agricultural waste as feedstock for the Province of Buenos Aires, a study funded by the Inter-American Development Bank, for the benefit of the Organism Provincial de Desarrollo Sostenible, Argentina.
Damiana holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health and a Master’s Degree in Agriculture and Resource Economics from the University of Connecticut and is currently pursuing an MBA in Strategic Management and Technological Innovation at the prestigious Instituto Tecnologico de Buenos Aires (ITBA).
