Honorine Umurisa

Honorine Umurisa (she/her) is a final-year undergraduate student at the African Leadership University, pursuing a degree in Entrepreneurial Leadership with a specialization in Business Strategy and Investment. She is passionate about sustainable development, financial empowerment, and youth-led innovation.

Honorine brings over three years of experience in research, program design, and grant writing. She developed these skills as a co-founder and Executive Assistant at Hope for Tomorrow Academy, a private nursery and primary school in Kigali, where she led the research and development of a creative, STEM-focused curriculum rooted in sustainability. She is also the co-founder and Managing Director of the SaveUp for Success Foundation, a social enterprise that promotes financial literacy and economic self-reliance among Rwandan youth through sustainable agriculture and small-scale enterprise support.

In addition, Honorine served as a Program Coordinator Intern at Huru Initiatives in Tanzania, where she supported water conservation efforts by developing grant proposals and concept notes to secure funding for community-based projects.

As a GWMP Fellow, Honorine is excited to contribute her experience in grant writing and her commitment to social impact by identifying funding opportunities, developing compelling proposals, and supporting mission-driven initiatives.
