Pedro Sanches de Frias
Pedro Sanches (he/him) is a Brazilian double master’s student at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV-EAESP) and the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex, where he holds the Chancellor’s International Scholarship. He is pursuing degrees in Public Management and Policy (MA) and in Climate Change, Development and Policy (MSc). His research focuses on how bioeconomy can help advance land use-related NDCs in Brazil’s AFOLU sector.
Pedro holds undergraduate degrees in History (USP) and International Relations (PUC-SP). He has worked with local governments, research institutions, and international organisations, including as International Affairs Advisor and Coordinator at São Paulo City Hall and its development agency. At FGVces, he supported the creation of a local adaptation plan for climate-resilient territories. His expertise lies in international cooperation between global cities, climate policy and sustainable urban development.
As a Climate and Development Fellow at C40 Cities, he supports the Latin America portfolio by contributing to regional climate initiatives. His work includes developing monitoring tools and supporting sectoral projects on mobility, waste, energy, air quality, and green jobs.
