Tinklyn Xiang
Tinklyn is a Columbia University freshman pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Financial Economics with a minor in Sustainable Development. Last February, she launched a project to create emergency shelters for unhoused individuals along a prominent skid row in Vancouver. The ongoing effort has highlighted the tangible impact of architectural design in her hometown, Vancouver Whether it's in a food pantry installation or an emergency shed, her passion for sustainable development merges social responsibility, human behaviour, and community impact — the excitement is not only in designing the structures themselves but in getting to know the communities that her work will impact and seeing how her efforts can help people on as close to an individual level as possible. At Columbia, Tinklyn was thrilled to start a part-time internship with CLIP, a New York startup dedicated to democratizing e-bike access and fighting climate change. CLIP focuses on creating Plug&Play upgrades to make electric mobility accessible for the 2 billion bicycles already in circulation. Now as a Constellations Fellow for the Fall 2024 cohort, Tinklyn is excited to blend her commitment to sustainable development with hands-on experience in the city of New York, a place she’s come to see as the "heart of the world."
