About the organization: 

Established in 2009, Solar Sister trains, recruits and supports women entrepreneurs across rural Africa to kickstart clean energy businesses. Solar Sister’s mission is to create a pathway to prosperity for women entrepreneurs, engender climate resilience, and eradicate energy poverty in rural and vulnerable communities. Solar Sister envisions a more equitable, prosperous, and sustainable world powered by women entrepreneurs. Today, the Solar Sister model has been implemented in war-torn regions and has supported women from all backgrounds, from people with disabilities, to internally displaced persons and refugees, to empower more than 10,000 women entrepreneurs.

Fellowship Description:

The Communications Intern will support the Communications Manager in developing social media content, blogging, and updating the photo archive. Responsibilities include:
- Evaluate our social media presence and make suggestions on how we can grow our audiences, particularly Linkedin.
- Create social media posts for our four platforms, including reels.
- Assisting in photo archive management, including keywording and organization of the archive.
- Research and outline ideas for content for blog posts relating to our three pillars: gender equity, energy access, and climate action as they relate to Solar Sister


Qualifications:

- Education or certification in a communications-related field
- Knowledge of how certain social media platforms work
- Ability to read and process analytics information as it pertains to social media
- Knowledge of Photoshop
- Able to work independently


Time Commitment:   30 hours / week
