About the Organization
Symbrosia is a Hawaiʻi-based cleantech aquaculture startup using the red seaweed Asparagopsis taxiformis to reduce methane emissions from livestock. Our feed additive, SeaGraze®, has been shown to cut methane by over 80%.
Fellowship Description:
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Data Systems & Analytics Intern to support the optimization of our data collection processes, database management, and analytical workflows. The intern will work closely with our data and production teams to standardize data pipelines, maintain and improve our database, and produce meaningful visualizations and summaries using R.
Responsibilities:
Optimize and maintain production data collection forms
Organize and manage large datasets in our internal database
Conduct data cleaning, wrangling, and exploratory analysis in R
Create visualizations and dashboards to communicate trends and key findings
Assist in automating reporting workflows and improving documentation of data protocols
Collaborate with scientists and engineers to identify ways data can support research goals
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Data Science, Environmental Science, Statistics, Biology, or a related field
Proficiency in R (e.g., tidyverse, ggplot2, dplyr); experience with Python is a plus
Strong attention to detail and ability to clean and organize real-world data
Experience with spreadsheets, data collection tools, or basic database systems
Clear communication skills and an interest in sustainable agriculture, aquaculture, or climate science
Time Commitment: 30 hours / week
