About the Organization
The mission of Solar Cookers International (SCI) is to improve human health, economic well-being, women’s empowerment, and the environment by promoting climate-friendly solar cooking for vulnerable populations worldwide. SCI is a global nonprofit dedicated to empowering people in vulnerable communities, like Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, to cook food and purify water using the power of the sun — reducing deforestation, smoke inhalation, and reliance on expensive or harmful fuels.
Fellowship Description:
SCI is seeking a creative Communications Intern to help increase awareness of solar cooking and SCI’s impact through digital storytelling and content creation. The intern will support SCI’s communications team in developing content that educates, engages, and inspires audiences worldwide. Key responsibilities -
Research and develop content on topics related to solar cooking and SCI’s work.
Assist in the creation of short videos and visual content highlighting SCI’s projects and impact
Support in managing SCI's media relations
Monitor relevant news and trends to inform content and engagement opportunities
Qualifications:
Strong interest in communications, research, and content creation
Proficiency in social media platforms and video editing
Detail-oriented with good organizational skills and a strong work ethic
Self-starter who can work remotely and collaborate with a global team
Time Commitment: 8-10 hours / week
