Two Local Climate Organizations Team Up To Launch Public Database of Vetted Climate Solutions

Aspen, March 11, 2024 - As part of its commitment to strengthening effective climate solutions, the Global Warming Mitigation Project (GWMP) has launched an online database of scientifically vetted climate solutions with the help of VoLo Earth Ventures, an early-stage venture capital fund on a mission to drive decarbonization by guiding profit-seeking capital into promising climate technologies.

The Climate Impact Conduit database aims to increase the visibility of high-potential climate mitigation companies among philanthropic and investment communities. This public platform includes something for every climate funder, with a mix of companies (60%) and nonprofits (40%) varying across regions, sizes, demographics, and climate verticals. Organizations in the database have submitted applications for the annual Keeling Curve Prize and scored as high-quality by expert analysts and judges.

As two climate-inspired organizations based in Aspen, VoLo Earth Ventures and GWMP frequently collaborate to tackle challenges related to enticing market adoption by the largest sectors of the global economy. VoLo Earth utilizes proprietary quantitative tools and landscape analysis to determine which technologies and business models have the best chance at commercial success, thus accelerating decarbonization in multi-trillion dollar sectors. VoLo Earth shares a sampling of their 30+ investments online and was excited to offer its proprietary architecture to assist GWMP in creating a similar model for its own database.

“This is a unique moment in time. The brightest minds in the world are dedicating their entire lives to solving the biggest threats to our existence. It can be challenging as an investor or philanthropist to sort through the abundance of offerings and optimize for alignment of mission, values and deployment of resources. The backbone architecture of VoLo Earth’s data-driven approach marries perfectly with GWMP’s intention of providing clarity in a world of complexity and uncertainty. Through collaboration and innovation, we can navigate these challenges together and pave the way for a brighter, more sustainable future for the next generation,” says Chris Tullar, Co-Founder VoLo Earth Ventures.

The Climate Impact Conduit database is a self-populating platform that allows climate organizations to consistently add and update information related to their projects, including the region of impact, project summary, impact on underrepresented groups, customers, partnerships, financials, and projected emissions reductions.

"The Conduit, although still in its early stages, is expected to play a crucial role in addressing issues in climate finance. Climate organizations can access the necessary capital while creating investment opportunities of varying shapes and sizes for donors, investors, and family foundations. This platform will enable the scaling up of climate solutions with the greatest potential,” says Jacquelyn Francis, Founder and Executive Director of GWMP.

Through the Keeling Curve Prize cycle, hundreds of new climate solutions will be added to the database yearly, creating an ever-replenishing pipeline of viable opportunities to diversify and de-risk the climate funding landscape.
